Plan now to join the Christmas parade
What: St. Tammany Fire Protection District No. 1's annual Christmas parade, themed "Historical Slidell says Merry Christmas to Slidell," will be held Dec. 6 starting at the Midtown Square shopping center on Gause Boulevard and continuing along the traditional Gause-to-Front-to-Pontchartrain parade route.
Details: The parade is open to anyone wanting to join the Fire District, and Santa Claus, in welcoming the holiday season to Slidell. The entry fee is a minimum $20 check or money order, made payable to either Community Christian Concern or the St. Tammany Fire Protection District 1's Fit As a Firefighter Camp. First- through third-place plaques will be given to the best decorated vehicle, trailer, truck or float.
Special throws: Dalmatian puppies will be the favored throws at this year's parade, according to parade organizer Carolyn Gilmore.
Details: Register by Nov. 20 by calling Gilmore at 985.646.4861.
