Best bets this weekend
WHISTLESTOP WEEKEND
A weekend of festivities has been planned in conjunction with the city of Slidell's inaugural Whistlestop Weekend in Olde Towne Slidell including: Friday, Olde Towne Alive, 6-9 p.m., featuring the Bayou Liberty Jazz Band; Saturday, Arts Evening, 4-10:30 p.m., featuring more than 100 artists, 20 performance groups, and concerts by The Ronnie Kole Trio and Charmaine Neville; and Sunday, Bayou Jam, 5:30-7:30 p.m., spotlighting Swingaroux. All events are free.
VETERANS PARADE
The second annual Veterans Celebrate Freedom Veterans Parade will be Sunday at 1 p.m., starting at Slidell High School and ending at Salmen High School. Korean War era veterans will be saluted.
