Proceeds from Azucar Ball benefit scholarship fund
The New Orleans Hispanic Heritage Foundation will host its 19th annual fundraiser, the Azucar Ball, Nov. 21, 8 p.m. to 1 a.m. in the LaSalle Ballroom at the InterContinental New Orleans, 444 St. Charles Ave.
The theme for this year's black-tie affair is "Cabaret Tropicana." Ileana Suquet and Darleen Carlisle are planning the night.
Eugene Schreiber, managing director of the New Orleans World Trade Center, will be honored with the Galvez Cup. He began with the WTC in 1979 and is retiring this year.
The Galvez Cup is presented to a person or entity who has assisted the NOHHF in its work. It is named in honor of Don Bernardo de Galvez, a popular governor of Louisiana during the Spanish rule of the late 1700s.
Proceeds from the ball will go toward the foundation's scholarship fund, which provides outstanding Latino students with scholarships to attend high school and college. Last year, 37 scholarships were awarded.
Individual tickets to the Azucar Ball itself are $100. Tickets to the patron party and the ball are $150. Sponsorships are available. For more information, call Rosa Rodriguez or Hannagan Johnson at 504.523.2600.

LatiNola has also partnered with the U.S. Census Bureau and will form its own Complete Count Committee.
Its first meeting is Nov. 17 at 5:30 p.m. For more information, e-mail Anna Frachou at afrachou@puentesno.org.
