--- Fall fundraiser ---
The Friends of the New Orleans Council on Aging Elder Action Coalition is hosting a Masquerade Party on Oct. 30 from 8 p.m. to midnight at the Laborer's Union Hall, 5100 Tchoupitoulas St.
The party is a fall fundraiser for services provided by the New Orleans Council on Aging. Tickets are $15 per person or $25 per couple. Entertaining will be Kermit Ruffins, Arthur Johnson and A Chosen Few, DJ Murphy Sanders, and the Lil Stooges Brass Band. There will be a costume contest featuring local celebrity judges. Those who attend must be 21.

--- Workshop ---
United Teachers of New Orleans will hold a Make 'n' Take workshop on Saturday from 8:30 a.m. to noon at 4718 Paris Ave. to give parents of pre-kindergarten and kindergarten students ideas and materials for helping their children at home. A continental breakfast will be served.
The workshop will include a presentation from parent and community advocates, a presentation of educational strategies from district administrators and small group sessions where pre-k and kindergarten teachers will assist parents in constructing learning aids that can be used at home to reinforce concepts taught in school.
