Dr. Virginia Angelico-Tatum has been named 2009 Alumna of the Year by the LSU Health Sciences Center New Orleans School of Dentistry. A 1979 graduate, Angelico-Tatum has been a leader of the LSUHSC School of Dentistry Alumni Association.
She was one of the first contributors to the LSUHSC School of Dentistry Committee of 100, which provides support for faculty and student development programs, as well as facility renovations and other important endeavors.
Angelico-Tatum is active in the New Orleans Dental Association and the New Orleans Dental Conference.

The University of New Orleans Coffee Talk Lecture, "Crafting Culture, Crafting Selves, Do-It-Yourself (DIY) as a Third-Wave Feminist Literacy Practice," will be held Tuesday at 12:30 p.m. at the UNO Liberal Arts Building, Room 197.
The program, presented by Doreen Piano, UNO assistant professor of English, will explore the relationship between Third-Wave feminism, literacy practices and DIY subcultures.
This event is free and open to the public and is presented by the UNO Women's Center and the Women's and Gender Studies Program.

Xavier University of Louisiana received a $92,000 grant from the United Negro College Fund for social entrepreneurship.
The Xavier Division of Business is planning to offer a Social Entrepreneurship course in the spring that will be open tto students in their junior year. The review process will begin in November. Three students will be selected for the program.
Plans call for students to participate in a paid eight-week summer internship. Upon graduation, they will be eligible to receive a $10,000 grant over a two-year period if they commit to working in a social entrepreneurship organization or business.
