Northlake Christian
Northlake students were happy to find themselves in the midst of Fall Break on Oct. 16-19.
Students were released from school after only a half day on Oct. 16 and had no school on Oct. 19. This was a much needed break for both NCS students and staff after putting a large amount of hard work into the first quarter of the school year. Unlike most schools, NCS students did not take exams for the end of the quarter; exams are only taken at the end of semesters, and count for 20 percent of the student's semester average.

Over the break, the Wolverine Football team won their first district game, defeating Pope John Paul II in a tough and exciting game. Many parents and fans traveled to Slidell to enjoy the game and the cool weather.
Students returned to school Oct. 20 ready to work, but also lamenting the close of fall break. That day also marked the official ending of the first nine weeks. It is hard to believe that 25 percent of the year is already gone, and that Christmas is right around the corner.

On Nov. 7, Northlake Christian will be holding the "Joie de Vie," a live and silent auction. This event is being held to raise funds for a second gymnasium for NCS, which will feature six new classrooms, new offices, a new weight room and a new locker room.
The Joie de Vie auction will be Northlake's largest fund raising effort and reservations for the patron dinner still are being accepted. One can participate in the auction by donating an auction item or by attending the event.
The dinner will feature a patron-only auction item of dinner for two at the Governor's Mansion. Other items to auctioned include vacations and fabulous merchandise. Donating auction items, referring the auction to businesses or individuals who have auction items and reserving seats at the patron dinner are all great ways to help make this event and the building of the new gymnasium successful.
General admission tickets are on sale now, but limited seating is available.
For more information, go online to www.northlakechristian.org and click on the Joie de Vie link or call Lynn Graham at 635.0400.
