Officer describes tour of duty in Iraq
Capt. Jacques Comeaux was the guest speaker at a dinner hosted by the Ozone Chapter of the Military Officers Association of America at Louisiana Grill on Sept. 26.
The audience was fascinated by Comeaux's description of his 2008-09 tour of duty in Iraq as commander of A Company of the attack helicopter battalion. Comeaux, current commander of Company A, 1st Battalion 244th Aviation Regiment Louisiana National Guard, also spoke about the National Guard rescue work after Hurricane Katrina. His words were accentuated with graphic pictures.
Ozone Chapter President Bob Douville presented Ken Kimberly with the Leadership Award on behalf of the Military Officers Association of America national headquarters in Alexandria, Va. with a paper signed by VADM Norbert Ryan, president of the association. Kimberly was recognized for his role as past president of the chapter, as chairman of the Louisiana Council Chapter, and for keeping the chapter together following Hurricane Katrina. Douville also presented past chapter president pins to Kimberly and to Joe Landry. Along with Douville, Ozone Chapter officers are Ken Kimberly, secretary; Clyde Hayman, treasurer, and Bill Sims, immediate past president.
The Military Officers Association of America is open to all active duty, retired, National Guard, Reserve, former commissioned officers and warrant officers of the uniformed services -- Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps, Coast Guard, Public Health Service and National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration. Ozone Chapter dues are $10 a year.
There will be a Christmas pot luck party at the home of Joan and Bob Douville on Dec. 12 at 6 p.m.
For more information on the party or on the Ozone Chapter, call Bob Douville at 624.8148.
