Tour de Jefferson will be held Sunday
The third annual Tour de Jefferson, sponsored by the Jefferson Chamver, is Sunday at Bayou Segnette State Park, 7777 West Bank Expressway, Westwego.
Check-in is from 7:30 to 8:30 a.m., with the ride starting at 8:45 a.m.
Riders can sign up for one of two categories: the "leisure ride" that runs 7.5 miles or the "seasoned ride" at 45.5 miles. All riders must finish by 3:15 p.m., and helmets are required for all riders.
Advance registration is $25 for adults and $8 for children, and includes a T-shirt. A group of 10 or more that completes advance registration will receive a 20 percent discount.
The cost Sunday will be $35 per adult and $12 per child.
Volunteers are needed for a variety of duties, including to hang signs along the route, put up tents at the start and finish lines, hand out water and food, staff rest stops, and take tickets. High school students who need community service hours are especially encouraged to volunteer.
To register or request information for the bike ride, go to the Tour de Jefferson Web site at www.tourdejefferson.org or call the Jefferson Chamber office in Metairie at 504.835.3880, ext. 12.
Completed forms can be faxed to the Jefferson Chamber at 835.3828.
