    Paz y amor. Paix et amor. Pace si Dragoste Shalom v'ahava. Peace and love.

    This year, these words are the motto of Covington High's Foreign Language Club, one of the nearly 30 student organizations on the school's campus.

    The translation of "peace and love" in more than 20 different languages appears on the back of the club's shirts, and describes its members overall mission -- bringing peace and love to Covington High and the community at large.

    Foreign Language Club is a service organization, dedicated to supporting Covington High and the greater community as well as broadening cultural horizons in and out of school.

    The Foreign Language Club is open to all students enrolled in Covington High's higher-level Spanish and French classes as well as those students who speak foreign languages.

    The club demonstrates its commitment to service every year, spearheading annual events like a Thanksgiving Food Drive for the Covington Food Bank and the winter toy and book collection for Toys for Tots. The club is also represented at Covington's annual Relay for Life, for which Foreign Language Club members raise money with a booth and walking team.

    This year, the cub provided another noteworthy contribution to the community: the gift of dance.

    At Covington High's Mane Event in September, the club's members worked up a sweat by providing free salsa lessons to all attendees. The club also participates in Covington High's International Culture Day, where they provide Spanish and French food as well as information about each country's cultures.

    Perhaps the pinnacle of the Foreign Language Club's year comes with Mr. CHS, the club's annual fundraiser. The event, which is traditionally held in the spring, is a beauty pageant of sorts, in which 15 of Covington High's male students compete for the title of Mr. CHS.
