Lacombe man hit infant, police say
A Lacombe man smacked his 2-month-old nephew and knocked over the boy's 79-year-old grandmother during an argument with his brother's ex-girlfriend, authorities said.
The fight began after Woodrow Parker, 31, went with his brother, Brandon Parker, 25, and another family member to the home of Brandon Parker's ex-girlfriend on Lake Road, St. Tammany Parish Sheriff's Office spokesman Cpl. Sean Beavers said Thursday. The men began arguing with the ex-girlfriend, continuing a dispute that had started when Brandon Parker went to the home earlier in the day to drop off something for the baby, Beavers said.
During the fight, which occurred Oct. 15, Woodrow Parker attacked the infant and his grandmother, Beavers said. The baby was taken to the hospital and checked out, but released shortly afterward, he said. The grandmother was not seriously injured.
It was unclear why Parker turned on the infant and grandmother.
And during the altercation, Brandon Parker allegedly struck his ex-girlfriend.
Deputies found the Parkers in their home at 27447 St. Louis Drive later in the day, Beavers said. Woodrow Parker was booked into the St. Tammany Parish jail in Covington with second-degree cruelty to juveniles, simple battery of the infirm, disturbing the peace and two counts of contempt of court.
Brandon Parker, who has a medical condition that kept him from being housed in the jail, was given a summons for domestic battery. Both Parkers are well known to law enforcement, Beavers said. Brandon Parker has previously been convicted of distribution of crack cocaine, and Woodrow Parker has convictions for possession and distribution of marijuana.
