Parish port panel gains new members
Gov. Bobby's Jindal's office has announced two appointments to the St. Bernard Parish Port Commission.
In a news release late Thursday, Jindal said Bradley Cantrell of St. Bernard and Charles Reppel Sr. of Chalmette have been appointed to the board.
Reppel, a former chief aide to former St. Bernard Parish President Henry "Junior'' Rodriguez, has been on the board for several years.
He is the director of operations and marketing for the St. Bernard Port, Harbor and Terminal District and will be reappointed to the board to serve as a nominee of the parish's legislative delegation, the news release said.
Cantrell is the owner and president of BJC Construction Inc. Cantrell also will serve as a nominee of the parish's legislative delegation, the news release said.
According to statute, the St. Bernard Port Commission comprises five members selected from nominations submitted by St. Bernard Parish's legislative delegation, subject to Senate confirmation, the governor's news release said.
