Mustang sought in fatal hit-run
State Police are searching for a late model Ford Mustang in connection with a hit-and-run accident that killed a pedestrian last week.
Authorities identified a dark-colored 1994 to 1998 Mustang as the vehicle that fatally injured a Reserve woman on Oct. 14, State Police announced in a news release today. The car was identified through surveillance video and evidence found at the scene accident, the release said.
Shortly after the accident, authorities thought the vehicle involved in the accident was a light-colored pickup truck.
The vehicle struck and killed Dione Duhe, 36, as she attempted to cross Airline Highway in LaPlace at 5:45 a.m. Authorities say Duhe had arrived early for a medical appointment and was heading to a nearby store when, witnesses say, she stepped into the path of the vehicle.
Investigators are looking for the Mustang's unidentified driver, who struck Duhe near the intersection of Airline and Belle Pointe and continued traveling west.
Witnesses told authorities the car never stopped.
Authorities ask that anyone who can identify the vehicle or the driver to call State Police Troop B at 504.471.2775.
