Three men shot dead in two attacks in N.O.
Three men were killed in less than two hours Saturday afternoon in two separate New Orleans shootings.
Two New Orleans residents were shot to death Uptown at about 1 p.m. while sitting in a vehicle on Bordeaux Street near Laurel Street.
Travain Jones, 20, died at the scene, and Bryant Langston, 17, died shortly after at University Hospital, said John Gagliano, chief investigator for the coroner's office. Langston was three weeks shy of his 18th birthday.
About an hour and a half later, Tyone Nions, 33, of New Orleans was shot in Treme and left to die on gravel along the edge of North Roman Street.
Jones and Langston were each shot several times in the head and body, police spokeswoman Sabrina Richardson said.
Witnesses told detectives that two armed men wearing dark clothing and dreadlocks fled the scene on foot toward Annunciation Street.
Detective Winston Harbin is in charge of the Uptown investigation. He can be reached at 504.658.5300.
Nions was killed at about 2:30 p.m. on North Roman between Ursulines Avenue and Gov. Nicholls Street. Police had no suspects or motive in the shooting, according to a news release from Richardson later in the afternoon.
Nions' relatives and the neighbors who crowded into the street and onto front stoops offered little insight into the killing.
A few residents talked about the senselessness of the shooting but wouldn't say more.
"That dude didn't do nothing to nobody. He just drank his Red Bull," said one man who didn't want to be identified. He received nods of approval from others who also declined to speak further about Nions or his death.
Detective Jimmie Turner is in charge of the Treme investigation. He also can be reached at 504.658.5300.
