However, rookie point guard still in the mix to back up Paul

Entering the final two preseason games, Hornets Coach Byron Scott said it is too early to say if first-round draft pick Darren Collison has earned a spot in the rotation for next week's regular-season opener at San Antonio.

Although Collison has made progress, he is battling Bobby Brown for the primary backup point guard spot behind Chris Paul. Based on performances in the previous six games, it appears Brown is ahead of Collison.

Brown has emerged as the Hornets' fourth-leading scorer in the preseason with a 12.0 average, and he has shot 42.9 percent (9-of-21) on 3-point attempts.
